German Retro Future

In 1977 the future was sleek, steel and streamlined. Mercedes-Benz's C 111-III was a fascinating design study that served to transform aerodynamic knowledge into a functional design.

Never making it to the production floor, this design study will remain as one of nicest concepts cars to never come to fruition. Pity.

Minimal volume please

Hironao Tsuboi has stripped the conventional speaker back to its absolute basics. Searching to make a product as invisible as possible, he has reduced the "Volume" speaker to just a simple volume knob.

Melting moments

Takeshi Kawano, an artist hailing from Japan has created striking sculptures that depict the major effect of global warming – the increasing global temperatures and meltdown of the ice caps which lead to submersion of low-lying lands/countries, death of animals due to habitat changes and a lot of other inter-related damages. He has portrayed all these through three sculptures of a polar bear, a deer and a penguin that are defaced as they are apparently melting away.

Sucker Punch Movie

As the new Sucker Punch Movie by director Zack Snyder is released this week, i thought i'd feature the great conceptual art by Alex Pardee. Loving the art direction in this movie so far from the glimses i've seen. So, if you liked 300 and the Watchmen (for the styling and art direction) you'll love this Suckerpunch Movie.
